The “Cyber Security Panel,” organized under the coordination of the Directorate of Information Technologies of our university, was held with strong participation on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Main Hall of the Şırnak University 15 July Congress and Culture Center. The panel was organized to raise awareness against increasing cyber threats in the digital world and addressed current topics such as secure internet usage, phishing attacks, banking fraud, password security, cyberbullying, and information security in the age of artificial intelligence. The event was attended by university administrators, academic and administrative staff, as well as a large number of students. The panel was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rasim Çekik, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at our university. Among the speakers were İrfan Buğday, Director of Information Technologies at Şırnak University, Cyber Security Specialist Yusuf Şen, and Gamze Gür from the Gendarmerie Cyber Crimes Department, who shared valuable information with participants regarding current cyber threats and the precautions that should be taken. Throughout the event, the Q&A sessions and interactive discussions attracted significant interest from participants, while the award-winning Kahoot quiz competition added excitement to the program. Various prizes were presented to the participants who ranked in the competition. The panel, organized to increase digital awareness and promote secure technology usage, concluded with strong interest and satisfaction from participants.
It is planned that activities and events aimed at improving information security and digital awareness efforts at our university will continue in the coming period.
